Film Review: Seducing Mr. Perfect

Since it's Valentine's Day I thought it would be perfect to review a wonderful romantic comedy. Seducing Mr. Perfect was released in 2006 and is highly entertaining! (Other romance films I've reviewed: I Do, Zelary, and Elegy) This is a great Korean film; first off, the guy (Daniel Henney pictured left) is so hot it's unbelievable. I think he's the most attractive man I've ever seen! (That's why the picture above is so big. lol)

June (played by Uhm Jung Hwa and pictured right) is a feisty girl who wears her heart on her sleeve. Her boyfriend dumps her and takes advantage of her kind heart. In the meantime she works for a boss, Robin Heiden, (played by Daniel Henney) who is relentless. When she discovers her boyfriend has been cheating she confronts him with crying and screaming; her boss happens to witness her public meltdown. While drowning her sorrow in alcohol, he tells her that she is treated poorly because she is pathetic in relationships. She doesn't know the "rules" of dating. He decides to take her on as a student and teach her how to get her ex back. She follows his instructions religiously and is successful but there are two problems: she isn't her authentic self and her boss begins to adore her. The more she learns about her boss' "rules" the more he reveals his true feelings for her and that he is still healing from his own heartbreak. How will this play out? Will she stay with her ex or will she catch on to her boss' feelings for her. You have to watch and see! .-_-

I was able to watch it free online through koreandrama.tv and bought it right away on amazon. I've embeded the movie below in eight parts so you, too, can watch it free! Enjoy! .-_-

Bikram Yoga!!

I've been looking for a workout routine that is more than just jogging around the lake or just lifting weights. I wanted something I could do long term perhaps for the rest of my life. I wanted this workout routine to be fun, challenging, and something I could receive maximum benefits. I found it: Bikram Yoga! Bikram Yoga was founded by Bikram Choudhury in the 1970s and has taken the world by storm. I'm obsessed with Bikram Yoga. It has changed my life. Not only does this tone your muscles and improve flexibility but it also improves mental focus, detoxifies the body, and improves the body's internal organs.

Bikram Yoga is comprised of 26 poses. The sessions are 90 minutes long and are conducted in a room heated at 105 degrees Fahrenheit with a humidity of 40%. Yes, it's super hot!! The heat helps the body to be more elastic and flexible while also aiding the body in sweating out toxins. The first session was rough as I was new to Yoga and within minutes I was exhausted. This was due, in part, to the heat. The second session was even rougher as I knew what to expect the second time around. As I attempted to do all 26 poses I exhausted myself even more because I was really paying attention to my form and breathing.  I felt nauseous and light headed but the instructor said this was normal. By the third session I had surpassed that feeling of wanting to die during the sessions. Early on, there were times when I said to myself, "Why are you here? What are you doing to yourself?" However, after the third session, I found myself craving Bikram Yoga.

Benefits of Bikram Yoga:
  1. Relieves stress
  2. Good for strength training
  3. Improves the condition of the skin
  4. Decreases insomnia
  5. Flushes toxins out of the body
  6. Improves flexibility
  7. Reduces appetite
  8. Improves circulation
  9. Speeds up metabolism
  10. Decreases risk of injury and hastens recovery
  11. Improves digestive system
There are many more benefits but check out Bikram Choudhury's website for more detailed information as he explains what each pose does for your body.  If you are looking for a routine that will detox your body, improve flexibility, and provide cardio, I highly recommend Bikram Yoga. Find a center in your area and try it out. You will regret it the first time but keep going; after the third session you, too, will be addicted!

Film Review: I Do

This charming French movie is one of the funniest foreign movies I've ever seen. Released in 2006 under the title Prete-moi ta main, I Do will make you laugh charming you into believing in true but unexpected love. Luis Costa, played by Alain Chabat, (pictured above) is a 41 year old bachelor and enjoys the single life. However, his mother and his sisters desperately want him to marry someone so they don't have to do his laundry and baby him. They believe that is the job of a wife. Because he is too timid to forthwrightly tell his family he doesn't want to get married, he devises a plan in order to get them off his back: he will pay a woman to pretend to be his girlfriend. She will be the perfect woman; dress the part and act the part. She will then leave him at the alter and he will be so devastated, his family will never even speak of marriage again.

He hires his co-worker's beer-drinking-belching-leave-the-door-open-while-peeing-punk-kid, Emma played by Charlotte Gainsbourg (pictured above) to play the part of a perfect girlfriend. She passes the test exceptionally and his family falls in love with her. Luis discovers that Emma is a better actress than he thought; spending so much time with her elicits a response in him that is unexpected. When she leaves him at the alter, the drama that unfolds will have you bursting with laughter and sighing with satisfaction. Only 90 minutes long with English subtitles, I Do, is one of those films I wish I discovered when it first debuted. This is a film I can watch over and over again.
